Emby Server Update

Greetings, Emby enthusiasts! I hope this message finds you well. Today, I wanted to share an update regarding the performance of my Emby Server. (Soo Emby…)

The first option worked nicely

As some of you may recall from our previous post, I was experiencing difficulties with constant buffering and lagging while streaming my favorite content through Emby using a VM. But I am happy to report that those struggles are now a thing of the past. After moving the Emby Server into a Docker container, the performance has improved dramatically. Streaming x265 files is now a smooth and effortless experience, free from any annoying jumps or pauses.

Using Docker or a container for the first time seems intimidating, but trust me, it is all worth the effort. Though there may be a bit of a learning curve and some initial hiccups (mainly my own fault for not reading further).

With direct access to the NAS’s decoding capabilities, your x265 files will stream with remarkable stability, leaving behind any performance issues you may have face.

Smelling Those Power Savings

Just got to wait for a good month now for the experiment to run, I think I’ll find I save a huge amount by turning off the main server in the house. I’ll update once I’ve calculated it all.
